The lion’s share of Jubilee fun – Spanish style

Where better, then, for HPB’s southern Spanish home, El Pueblito de Alfaix, to host its Diamond Jubilee celebrations than with a “street party” in the site’s Lions Square?

No fewer than 150 guests, of all ages, attended the celebrations on Sunday 3rd June, held in the early evening when the heat of the day had eased a little. It was, of course, a very British affair – but the wine and snacks on offer lent the whole thing a Spanish twist. Afterwards guests repaired to the bar for a royalty-related pub quiz.

As it turns out this was not El Pueblito’s first brush with royalty. Holidaying at the site two weeks before was the Hon Margaret Rhodes LVO – Her Majesty’s first cousin!
