Wildlife in the Dordogne

Wildlife in the Dordogne

The Dordogne is a great venue for the amateur naturalist with lots of familiar UK species but also a selection of scarcer and more exotic species to add spice to trips out – and Constant is your perfect base!

Hardly surprising therefore, that there is a wonderfully rich rural wildlife community living here alongside visiting guests.

As a service to guests at Constant there is a programme of all-day guided wildlife trips to sites within an hour or so of Constant. These are run by David Simpson, author of ‘Birding Dordogne’, who has lived in the region for 10 years and previously worked for 20 years as a nature reserve warden in the UK and abroad. There are a wide range of interesting areas locally and visits will depend on the seasonal wildlife activity at each.
