A Wales of a time in the Principality
St Brides Castle, HPB’s home on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast, lit its own beacon to start the celebrations – bang on cue at 10pm on Monday 4th June. The following day the site hosted a bring-and-share Jubilee picnic lunch, attended by many Bond holidaymakers, with Bondholders Paul and Rosa Hartley providing musical accompaniment on guitar and violin. There was also a special Jubilee quiz to purchase – £1 a pop for adults, 50p for the children's version – with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support, the Bond’s chosen charity.
The kids got to demonstrate their artistic flair too – with a Queen Elizabeth II portrait competition; all the artworks were put on display in the site's games room. “The winner has yet to be announced," says site manager Mandy Rees, “but we decided to leave the judging to people with real taste and discernment: our Bondholders!”
