is part of the Holiday Property Bond portfolio offering exclusive access to over 1,500 properties to over 40,000 investors across more than 30 locations. You can find out more about
Viehhofen
below, but first a brief explanation about the Holiday Property Bond.
A. How can I holiday better?
Invest from £5,000 in the Holiday Property Bond for exclusive access to a portfolio of over 1,500 top quality villas, cottages and apartments in 32 locations across 13 European countries, including over 600 properties in 19 locations in the UK. For each £1 invested you will receive one Holiday Point each year which you can use to book the properties. And when staying in them you do not pay a commercial rent, just a no-profit user charge covering actual running, maintenance and refurbishment costs. This charge is level throughout the year so there are no high season premiums. The average charge for a studio is around £360 and around £540 for a two bedroom property, for a week. Larger properties are also available. This no-profit user charge is only payable when you want to go on holiday. Your only ongoing commitment is a quarterly fee under £38 (that is around £150 a year), linked to RPIX.
B. Will there be more properties in the future?
As we attract more investors the more properties we will add to the portfolio – increasing your holiday choice still further.
C. How long can I holiday with HPB?
For life if you wish – the holiday benefits last as long as you hold the Bond. In due course you can pass it and the holiday benefits to your children and grandchildren, as many of our earlier investors have already done. If, however, at some point you and your family no longer wish to holiday with us you can surrender your Bond back to the company after two years or more (subject to deferral in exceptional circumstances). You will not get back the full amount you invested, although we would hope that you will have had some wonderful holidays. What you do get back will reflect initial charges (25%) taken before your money is invested in the HPB fund of holiday properties and securities. The fund itself also pays annual charges of around 2.5% of its net assets at cost, calculated monthly, as well as overheads. The value of the fund’s properties and securities can also go up or down and so, like most investments, your capital is at risk.
With its spectacular mountains and lakes, picturesque towns and welcoming villages, Austria is a country of inspiring natural beauty. And Viehhofen, in the region of Salzburgerland, is home to winter skiing and summer walking to rival any in the Alps. This is where you can find a development of one and two-bedroom apartments which are the perfect retreat after a day's skiing or walking.
The winter sports region served by Zell am See and Kaprun offers a wealth of opportunities for skiers of all abilities. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier above Kaprun is predominantly an area for beginners and intermediates, while the Schmittenhöhe above Zell has plenty of pistes to keep novices happy, alongside some longish black runs for the advanced skier. There's a snowboard park in Zell and a half-pipe on the Kitzsteinhorn, and the presence of snowboarders making use of the snowfields of the Kitzsteinhorn in the summer months helps to keep Zell's nightlife buzzing all year round.
The season on the Schmittenhöhe runs from early December to mid-April, while the Kitzsteinhorn is skiable for all but the hottest summer months.
The range of summer activities on offer includes windsurfing and sailing on the lake, as well as white-water rafting in the Taxenbach Gorge, 20km to the east of town.
Ski and snowboard to your heart's content
Austria is one of the best ski and snowboard destinations in the world, so it's no surprise it's a firm favourite with British travellers. Each and every resort is of an extremely high quality in terms of facilities and service, and all possess buckets of traditional Austrian charm.
With such a huge choice of resorts, you're bound to find some which cater to your level of ski or snowboard expertise.
Visit the charming town of Zell am See
You can't holiday in Austria without visiting at least one of its many beautiful towns and villages. The lakeside Zell am See is not only picturesque, it boasts a fantastic range of shops, cafes and bars. Plus, the centre is traffic-free, which is great news for those with small children.
Zell am See is full of history, too. Its cobbled street dates back to the 13th century, and there are plenty of medieval buildings to admire.
Celebrate Bauernherbst with the locals
Bauernherbst is an autumn festival celebrated over the harvest time. It's a big tourist attraction, and usually consists of various markets selling cheese, crafts and various farmer produce. You're also likely to see a marching band or two! People of all ages will love this celebration, so don't miss it.
See Mozart's childhood home in Salzburg
Austria's capital is a must-visit of course, but another key attraction to see is Mozart's birthplace, which is now a museum. Stiftung Mozarteum is located in the very centre of Salzburg, and has various exhibits, including the violin Mozart played as a child, his concert violin and harpsichord.
Enjoy a Sound of Music tour
Sound of Music fans will be pleased to know they can visit the film's famous shooting locations via a daily tour. Even those who have no interest in the film will love seeing Austria's beautiful countryside. The tour passes through Leopoldskron and Hellbrunn Castles, Mirabell Gardens, Lake Wolfgang, the wedding church in Mondee and Nonnberg Abbey, among other shooting locations.
